A few days to spare and the chance to visit a place on my bucket list.
Located on the North African coast with the Sahara to the East and the Atlantic Ocean and it's trade winds to the west, the port of Essaouira has stood for centuries as a trading post. Indeed it was once referred to as the Port of Timbuktu even though Timbuktu itself is thousands of miles to the South East.
Unlike cities like Marrakech however, Essaouira is cooler (thanks to those ever present winds) and much more laid back with fewer tourists and thus very unspoilt.
And for a bonus point, it is was also the Red City (Astapor) in Game of Thrones
